COVID-19 Govt to convert Thaajuddeen School into treatment facility
State Trading Organization (STO), on Thursday, announced the government's decision to convert Thaajuddeen School into a 19-bed treatment facility for COVID-19 patients under home isolation.
The initiative marks the first instance a school was utilized for COVID-19 treatment in the country. Previously, schools were used for isolation purposes.
According to senior official of STO, the company is tasked with equipping the school with beds and equipment.
"[The] government is providing everything required, We are only installing these items", said the individual.
People under home-isolation in the Greater Male' Region will be transferred to the facility for complications such as diabetes or treatments requiring the transfer of intravenous fluids.
Upon completion of treatment, the patient will be transferred back to isolation.
For individuals that require in-patient care after testing positive for COVID-19, authorities are only admitting patients at the Dharumvavantha Hospital and the Hulhumale' Medical Facility.
